St. Mary Magdalen Parish has a rewarding opportunity available for a Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. The Youth and Young Adult Coordinator will facilitate the development of programs designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of youth and Young Adults, in an inclusive safe environment. The Coordinator will plan, organize, and coordinate this parish ministry with the collaboration and support of volunteers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize and provide programs and opportunities to meet the spiritual, pastoral and social needs of Youth and Young adults.
  • Plan and organize social outreach and service opportunities for Youth and Young Adults.
  • Maintain an ongoing volunteer base to assist in providing programs and opportunities for youth and Young Adults.
  • Develop a Living Stations of the Cross program, to be presented by middle school and high school students on Good Friday.
  • Develop leadership skills for middle school students by assisting them in organizing and leading VBS summer programming
  • Budget and coordinate fundraising needs for Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
  • Attend extracurricular events and use other means for outreach and relational ministry.
  • Oversee the planning and coordinating of conferences, camps, and mission trips (e.g., Steubenville, and National Catholic Youth Conference).
  • In conjunction with faith formation coordinator, oversee the planning and coordinating of High School and Middle School Retreats.
  • Facilitate opportunities for leadership development and peer mentoring at all levels, middle school, high school and young adult.
  • Oversee planning, coordinating and facilitation of High School Youth Group.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with youth leaders from surrounding parishes as well as diocesan leaders.
  • Work in collaboration to organize and provide young adult programs and opportunities to meet the spiritual, pastoral and social needs of young adults.
  • With the assistance of support staff organize areas and materials relevant to youth and young adult ministry (e.g., youth building, materials used for retreats, catechesis, service work and social events).
  • Develop and advocate for creating an environment that supports youth ministry across the parish and its ministries.

  • Have a mature spiritual life
    • Be in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church
    • Have an education/formation/training background suited for the work required in this position
    • Have adequate computer skills in documents, PowerPoint, web navigation
    • Have strong interpersonal skills
    • Work collaboratively as a member of the parish pastoral team
  • Be energetic, well-organized, and creative
  • Able to work evenings and weekends with time compensated with time off during the week
  • Should be able to attract and motivate adult volunteers to assist with youth ministry

Salary and Benefits commensurate with experience and skills.

About the Parish:

St. Mary Magdalen Parish, known as the Shrine of the Penitent, currently serves approximately 1100 families. We celebrate weekend Mass at our beautiful new church constructed after fire destroyed our old church building in 2012. Our Mass times are Saturdays at 5 p.m., Sundays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., We are a welcoming, richly diverse parish both economically and culturally and enjoy coming together in many ways as a parish family.
