I'm Allison, and I'm excited to introduce myself as the new Youth Coordinator here at St. Mary Magdalen Parish. If we haven't met yet, it's nice to meet you through the bulletin!
A little about me: I grew up in Kentwood and attended St. Mary Magdalen Parish until I left for college. After four years in Ann Arbor getting my degrees in Film and English (Go Blue!) and almost another four years working out in Los Angeles, I am happy to be returning to the St. Mary Magdalen faith community to serve as the Youth Coordinator. When I'm not at the church teaching high school faith formation or singing at the 11am mass, you will probably find me playing board games with friends, teaching English to kids in China, watching movies, or reading books. As my family members can tell you, I read an absurd amount of books.
I know firsthand that St. Mary Magdalen has a fantastic youth program, and I am so thankful that I get to return to it in this new role. I'm also glad that my predecessors left instructions! I know that with their support and with the support of this fantastic community, we can continue to build the youth program here at St. Mary Magdalen and foster deep and genuine relationships with both God and one another. I truly believe that the youth of our parish are truly the young church, and that through engagement and leadership opportunities, we are investing not only in the youth themselves, but in the future of the Catholic community. By promoting strong and healthy relationships with God and one another, I hope to continue to bring our youth into the wider parish family as they grow in their faith.
Whether you're a parent, middle schooler, or high schooler, I can't wait to meet you! If you see me around the parish, in the office, or singing in mass, please find me and say hello. I look forward to engaging in discussions of faith, acts of service, and nights of fellowship with the youth of our parish, and hope to continue the fantastic work that is done in our parish daily.
Yours in faith,
